GUN LOCKS
Project ChildSafe sponsored the supply of gun locks available at the police department. Project ChildSafe is a nationwide program to help ensure safe and responsible firearms ownership and storage.
The cable lock system can be used on most firearms by threading the metal cable through the ejection port and out the magazine well (or out the loading port) or through the barrel and out the empty cylinder chamber. The cable lock system can also be used to secure a firearm to a solid object. A padlock connects the two ends of the metal cable and is provided in the kit, along with two keys and an instruction booklet.
A gun lock kit is available in the police department’s lobby for no cost. The lobby is staffed 24 hours every day, so you are invited to pick one up at your convenience.
You can also find a "Personal Firearms Record" form here that is a good and easy record for individuals with guns to record their serial numbers in case they are stolen.
