HUNTER SAFETY CLASS
The Mequon Police Department sponsors a D.N.R. hunter safety course held in the late summer orearly fall of each year at the Mequon Safety Building. NOTE: Persons born afterJanuary 1, 1973, must takethe course before they will be able to receive a hunting license in the stateof Wisconsin.
The course is a minimum of 14 hours in length (two hours per night); and, we also try to schedule a date to shoot shotguns on gun club’s trap range. The course fee is $10.00 and includes all materials. All firearms and ammunition will be provided by the instructors. No guns may be brought to class, unless directed by one of the instructors.
The course is geared for the introduction to hunting in all aspects, using hands-on training with firearms and video tapes. Students will learn about proper handling and care of firearms, ammunition, hunting regulations, landowner relations, tree stands and tree-stand safety, bow hunting, and much more.
