POLICE RESERVES
The Mequon Police Reserve unit is a civilian, non-sworn group of highly-dedicated people, with a long and loyal association to the Mequon Police Department. Reservists are unarmed, uniformed men and women who handle a variety of service support functions for the community, including traffic patrol and grounds security during sporting and ceremonial events, festivals, parades, and emergency situations.
Under the guidance of the Mequon Police Department, Reservists receive lengthy training focused on emergency and rescue situations; practical policing methods; principles of arrest, search, and seizure; and hands-on firearms training.
To be a Mequon Police Reserve officer, you must meet the following qualifications:
1. A resident of the City of Mequon or the Village of Thiensville;
2. An employee of the City of Mequon or reside in any community that geographically and contiguously borders the City of Mequon;
3. Twenty years of age or older;
4. Have a sincere desire to serve the community in a high-profile, uniformed capacity.
If you have this interest, please complete an application form from the Mequon Police Department and then contact Mequon Police Officer Guttmann at 262-242-3500. As the liaison between the police department and the Reserves, he will arrange to interview you at the Mequon Police Department and put you on the path to an extremely worthwhile and rewarding civic commitment.
