CITIZENS’ POLICE ACADEMY
A Citizens’ Police Academy is presented each year by the Mequon Police Department. Academy participants will receive an inside look into how police officers perform their duties. The Mequon Police Department believes that education has been an effective tool in gaining understanding and support from our community. Classes are held in the lower level of the Mequon Safety Building, located at 11300 N. Buntrock Ave., Mequon, WI.
Class Topics
Criminal Investigations, Defense and Arrest Tactics, Use of O.C. (Pepper) Spray, Use of Taser, Operating-While-Intoxicated Detection, Mock Traffic Stops, Drugs and Drug Recognition, K-9 Demonstration, and Room Clearing with Simunitions. A large part of the Academy is participation in role playing and scenarios, which provide a hands-on learning experience.
Attendee Qualifications
1. Age 20 or older; and
2. A resident of Mequon or Thiensville; or
3. An employee of a Mequon or a Thiensville business.
4. No Criminal convictions
Academy Sessions
This FREE, six-week program is held on weeknights in the spring. Class size is limited to 20. Early registration is highly recommended as the class fills up quickly.
